Walking to Palestine

Benjamin Ladraa, Human Rights Activist

  • A light lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Talk begins promptly at 1:00 p.m.

In this presentation Swedish activist Benjamin Ladraa will discuss what he witnessed of the harsh realities faced by Palestinian people living in the Occupied Territories, as part of the “Walk to Palestine” project he embarked on in August 2017 during which he crossed through fourteen countries carrying the Palestinian flag. What began as an attempt to create a non-violent media event to shed light on the human rights violations experienced by Palestinians in the OPT acquired an additional layer of interesting encounters with border officials, police, embassy staff, migrants, and other individuals from Europe to the Middle East. His final destination was Jerusalem which he attempted to reach eleven months later, but unsurprisingly, was not allowed to enter from the Jordanian border.
