The Jerusalem Fund & Palestine Center invites you to its 2019 Summer Intern Lecture Series, “Resist, My People, Resist Them”: Centering the Voices of Palestinian Women in Resistance.
This summer lecture series focuses its attention on the genealogical transformation of Palestinian women’s resistance. The series explores the different forms of resistance that Palestinian women have taken and draws attention to the varied ways that Palestinian women have been involved with, led, and shaped resistance.
The first installation in our series presents the inspirational story of Naila Ayesh and the fierce community of Palestinian women who placed themselves at the frontlines of the most vibrant, nonviolent mobilization in Palestinian history – the First Intifada in the late 1980s. Using evocative animation, intimate interviews, and exclusive archival footage, this film brings out of anonymity the courageous women activists who shaped and led one of the most influential nonviolent women’s movements in Palestinian history. The film is produced by Just Vision and will begin screening at 6:30 pm, followed by a post-film discussion with the producers and a Q&A with the audience.
All events are free and open to the public. Light snacks and refreshments will be served from 6-6:30 pm and the film will begin at 6:30 pm
Stay tuned for additional lectures in the series!
