This feature-length documentary explores the concept of Palestinan cinema produced by an effectively stateless people. The directors interviewed live in the Middle East, Europe, and North America, and for them there is no contradiction in this concept as they know from their own experiences that identity resides predominantly in the imagination and affective life regardless of institutions, borders, and occupations. Cinema Palestine combines in-depth interviews with directors including Hany Abu-Assad, Azza el-Hassan, Sobhi Zobaidi, Mai Masri, Tawfik Abu Wael, Annemarie Jacir, and many more, along with excerpts from their films.
