El-Lid Charitable Society

Location: Nablus and northern West Bank

Mission: El-Lid Charitable Society provides developmental, educational and in-kind assistance to children, women and individuals with special needs. Such programs improve the living conditions of these individuals while promoting an active healthy community.

El
Lid(2)The Project: A grant from The Jerusalem Fund Humanitarian Link enabled El-Lid Charitable Society to conduct its informal community classes for students who need more assistance and support in school. Tutoring in English, Math, Chemistry, Physics and Arabic was offered to 5th-12th graders at the El-Lid campus three times a week. Food and refreshments were provided daily as well as transportation for all the children. El-Lid also offered many field trips for the students and classes in computer proficiency. The high school students met twice a week to discuss their academic futures with advisors and all participating children were offered professional, psychosocial support. The grant from the Jerusalem Fund also gave local women in the community the opportunity to learn invaluable computer skills.

The Impact of the Project: Participating children in the El-Lid Charitable Society programs benefited more than just academically. They also developed positive character qualities, a

This program helped children discover new interests by exposing them to opportunities that are not available to them otherwise. The feedback from the families involved confirmed that the benefits of the program far surpassed the expected outcomes.

With your help, The Jerusalem Fund will continue to support programs such as this one that seek to bring a sense of normalcy in a hostile world. Your tax-deductible contribution is an investment in the future of the Palestinian people. Together, we can turn anger into optimism and fear into hope.
