Give
back to Palestine this Ramadan
Fewer things inspire hope for the future of
humanity more than people of all faiths and
backgrounds coming together for a common cause.
Last year, this is precisely what happened
during our Ramadan appeal when many of you gave
generously to improve the lives of
Palestinians. These funds enabled us to
strengthen our programs and services. The
Jerusalem Fund Humanitarian Link helps
disadvantaged communities in Palestine survive
in the face of harsh circumstances. In order to
fulfill our shared mission, it requires
committed supporters, like you.
Last month, your generous donations
helped shed light into the dark corners of
Palestine. For example, The Jerusalem Fund
extended a grant to Al Jenoub Society for
Women's Health to distribute rechargeable
light fixtures to families struggling with
regular power cuts. In Northern
Gaza, the local charity Al
Takafol will be handing out more than 400
Ramadan food packages to families in the area.
In Hebron, a girls’ school
will be getting a new rain collection system to
help combat the increasing water scarcity. In
Jerusalem, Siraj Al-Quds School for the
Blind will receive a grant to improve its
educational infrastructure. In the West Bank
city of Al-Bireh, our diabetes
clinic continues to offer the services of its
committed staff to be a positive force in
combatting diabetes in Palestine.
The month of Ramadan is a time of
celebration, fasting and giving. It is also a
time to reflect, remember and share with those
who are less fortunate than we are. For the
impoverished who struggle the most under the
daily realities of the - occupation, Ramadan
can be a great struggle as they scramble to
make ends meet.
All faiths recognize charity as an
important value, so at this time of the year we
ask our donors to express their goodwill not
just in a verbal, but also in a practical way
by providing for the overlooked poor.
The Jerusalem Fund has given
Palestinians a sense of stability and hope by
funding projects that supply them with food,
clothing, shelter and medical services.
A gift of $30 provides a child with a
year of school supplies, and $150 provides a
family with healthy meals throughout the month
of Ramadan. A $500 donation can provide gifts
that will bring joy to the lives of many
children. A $1,000 donation can support medical
clinics that face supply shortages, even for
the most basic ailments.
Your tax-deductible contribution this
month will help Palestinians start Ramadan on a
positive note. We are grateful for your
generosity and are committed to maintain your
trust. Can we count on your support?
